Hogbetsotso

This is a festival celebrated by the Ewe Anlo clan in November. It is a commemoration of the escape of the Anlo people from Notsie in Togo where they were held as slaves.

During this ceremony, the traditional stool is purified, then they clean their villages by sweeping and burning garbage.

The peak of the festival is a grand durbar held by the Anlo chiefs. This durbar takes place on the first Saturday of November in Anloga, the main Anlo town.

Dyaniba Kaka

This is a relatively unknown festival celebrated in Kpando. It is a celebration of the crossing of the river Danyi by the people of Kpando. The tale is that, when the people of Kpando were migrating from Notsie to Ghana, they got to the river Danyi and did not know how they were going to cross it, until a huge snake (believed to be a river god), appeared and the people of Kpando walked on it tot he other side.
Now, the people of Kpando first go the river to pay homage to it and afterwards, there is a huge durbar where people dance, eat and have fun.
